Muslim friends bailed us out of trouble for generations.

My father an engineer in Madras PWD, which later became after division, Kerala PWD was fighting for his period of work under Madras PWD, about 5 years, to be reckoned for his promotion, but due to the heavyweights fighting on the other side were so corrupt and was in majority.Because of their money power they got Kerala government to bend rules to suit their cases in the early 70s.My father went on indefinite leave and was living without salary for quite a few months.During that period his best friend a muslim Named Kasim was the one who bailed us out by sending money each month for our expences, we are all indebted to him for his kindness.

Likewise, once during a swimming session me and my brothers were having a good time in a pond near our house one afternoon, when suddenly my eldest brother got tired and could not swim anymore and was drowning in the middle of the pond and we were helplessly looking on from the sides when we saw his best friend named Hussain [also a muslim] asked him to hold on to his neck and brought him to the side of the pond in the process almost got drowned himself, but still did not leave my brother in the middle of the pond.

During my college days in the final year, I was in trouble with all 10 papers in arrears plus the 5 of the final year and had two chances one in sept and other one in april-may 1981. though my father had given me money each year for the books, I had spent all that money for our evenings, bunking classes and seeing movies regularly along with other vices such as drinks etc.etc.It was again another muslim friend of mine named Hakim who gave me money to buy guidebooks because I could not have asked my father again inviting trouble myself.But it was worth its weight in gold as I got through and graduated ultimately getting a bank job which was the most sought after job those days.

All the above stated facts will prove no matter what religion you belong to ultimately, what counts is whether you are good or bad. We find both in all religions no matter where we are and what we are. 

Thrislery & Thirunelli Temples in Wayanad [Kerala,India] the oldest ones made none other than Parasurama.

Kerala is aptly called the God's own country because the land was supposed to have  emerged from beneath the Sea by the effort of none other than the first incarnation of Lord Vishnu called Parasurama,who took it upon himself to punish those Kshatriya kings, who had gone power crazy due to their greed and started to unleash terror among the populace then.He was told to have created the temples mentioned above during Satya Yuga, called so, due to the righteous way of living during those periods.Till now Keralites celebrate Onam in memory of those periods when people were all nice and had no fraudsters or crooks. Mahabali or Maveli was mentioned as the king those days.But how old the said period is surprisingly at least hundreds of thousands years ago.Unbelievable to many perhaps, yet the truth because, folklore says so since generations. unique but true 'Onam' is only celebrated in Kerala alone, unlike other Hindu festivals celebrated all throughout India.

Gradually the world sank into chaos and violence which creep-ed into the minds of people after Satya yuga, which lasted for hundreds of thousands of years. Now after the second incarnation of Shri Ram followed by Dwapara yuga during which Shri Krishna, all tried their very best to inculcate Truth,Dharma and Satkarma [good deeds] and showed the people by leading examples, living righteously, but very few takers were there by the end of Dwapara Yuga when Kaliyuga,present one, started about 5000 years back.

The destruction of places all around the world due to natural calamities of mind boggling proportions are all happening due to the naive nature of todays populace, when greed and materialism has become the order of the day.But still people does not believe it is because of god's wrath.they are convinced it will happen anyway.God never forgives the wrongdoers is the ultimate truth.The sooner people realise the better for humanity.

Coming back to those temples the oldest in terms of age, forgotten and was destroyed many times, the latest being the time of Tipu Sultan,while fighting with the British. Pazhassi Raja who too was a freedom fighter took shelter in Thirunelli and with the help of tribals formed an army to fight the British.Also nearby you can find the place where Lava & Kusha along with Sita devi must have lived or that must have been the place where Shriram met his children because, I found it mentioned somewhere near to present day Sultan Battery.It must have survived all these years only due to the dense forests surrounding those places.

I will transform you like Myself, but you must do one thing.you must just stand here like Me, smile at everyone and just give benedictions. Do not interfere with anything and do not say anything.Remember you are the deity and you just have faith that I have a master plan for everything. The sweeper agreed to this.

> The next day the sweeper took the position of the deity and a rich man came and prayed to the Lord. He offered a nice donation and prayed that his business should be prosperous. While going, the rich man inadvertently left his wallet full of money right there. Now the sweeper in the form of deity could not call him and so he decided to control himself and keep quiet. Just then a poor man came and he put one coin in the Hundi and said that it was all he could afford and he prayed to the Lord that he should continue to be engaged in the Lord's service. He also said that his family was in dire need of some basic needs but he left it to the good hands of the Lord to give some solution. When he opened his eyes, he saw the wallet left by the rich man.The poor man thanked the Lord for His kindness and took the wallet very innocently. The sweeper in the form of the Deity could not say anything and he had to just keep smiling. At that point a sailor walked in. He prayed for his safe journey as he was going on a long trip.Just then the rich man came with the police and said that somebody has stolen his wallet and seeing the sailor there, he asked the police to arrest him thinking that he might have taken it. Now the sweeper in the form of Deity wanted to say that the sailor is not the thief but he could not say so and he became greatly frustrated. The sailor looked at the Lord and asked why he, an innocent person, is being punished. The rich man looked at the Lord and thanked Him for finding the thief. The sweeper in the deity form could no more tolerate and he thought that even if the real Lord had been here, he would have definitely interfered and hence he started speaking and said that the sailor is not the thief but it was the poor man who took away the wallet. The rich man was very thankful as also the sailor.

> In the night, the real Lord came and He asked the sweeper how the day was. The sweeper said, "I thought it would be easy, but now I know that Your days are not easy, but I did one good thing." Then he explained the whole episode to the Lord. The Lord became very upset on hearing this whereas the sweeper thought the Lord would appreciate him for the good deed done. The Lord asked, "Why did you not just stick to the plan? You had no faith in Me. Do you think that I do not understand the hearts of all those who come here? All the donation which the rich man gave was all stolen money and it is only a fraction of what he really has and he wants Me to reciprocate unlimitedly. The single coin offered by the poor man was the last coin he was having and he gave it to Me out of faith. The sailor might not have done anything wrong, but if the sailor were to go in the ship that night he was about to die because of bad weather and instead if he is arrested he would be in the jail and he would have been saved form a greater calamity. The wallet should go to the poor man because he will use it in My service. I was going to reduce the rich man's karma also by doing this and save the sailor also. But you cancelled everything because you thought you know My plan and you made your own plans."

Some of the problems faced by the growers

--- lack of consistent labour 

Not because there is no workforce but because there is no desire for the majority to work for more than 3-4 days in the week. (This could be because the Govt provides rations/freebies  and the only other fuel they need to pay for is liquor. Which enriches the Govt again)

--- difficulty in getting labour from around the plantation. Many prefer to travel to work! Which increases expenses and decreases productive time drastically.

--- The trend of using chemical fertilizer has to change along with the habit of importing the same ,god knows why? This actually has only depleted the land of its nutrients. And out of habit and ignorance farmers want to continue using it. Its cost is crippling both the farmer and his land.

---small growers with a medium sized holding are the most affected. As they cannot work their field on their own, nor can they afford to give work all year round. This way they are at the mercy of the workers demands, whims and fancies too. Some time just for an extra buck they go to another field and then return to yours, knowing that you have no option but to wait for them. Your leaf gets coarse and the factory sometimes rejects it or pays you less. But can you pay the worker less?  This is one problem while plucking coarse leaf also leaves your garden in bad shape. More top shearing required and less leaf for the following rounds depending on the damage done.  Loss and expense for the farmer mounts.

---climate change is another factor. No rain, no manure - no crop, plus an attack of mites.  Too much rain with hail stones and the entire crop is torn away. No marked season either.

--- Shade trees being eaten by cattle. The cowherds have a  habit of letting their cattle graze without supervision. Trees being robbed for wood.

---tea leaf getting robbed.

---Men need to be engaged in the field at higher wages. They demand a lot to carry green leaf bags or even threaten not to carry. 

--- green leaf agents deducting kilograms,  manipulating your labour, paying less at every opportunity once they have got you to put leaf for them.

---No cash advance from factories or agents.

---Demands for high bonus and goodies though there is no permanence in their yearly work attendance. 

---Due to labour irregularities outside labour has to be sought at a higher cost for tea garden weeding and maintenance.

---Realtor's buying up land creating fear and sometimes fencing off pathways.

---Rural banks not readily giving interest free loans which is available( Everything comes with a price) Eventually you spend more to get it and the mental disturbance caused is enough.

--- The fluctuating price of tea and the constant fear that it can slide down and the fear that one will be left to pay the increasing wages and expenses to maintain the garden. 

--- Tea Board subsidies trickle from time to time and one has to get the job done on their own. The formalities involved - the maps to be got from the concerned offices is time consuming and difficult.

--- More over the nationalized bankers who are supposed to save the farmers are asking for PAN nos and Income Tax returns the small tea growers only can look at the sky, having never heard of these terms,the rain gods have long deserted them and now the bankers who are supposed to bail them out of lean periods are demanding too much, leaving the farmers at the mercy of local money lenders ,who ultimately grabs the land and the farmers are left to die. What a pity; sad times for our dear farmers.

SRINIRMALA MATAJI BORN TO LIFT HUMANITY THROUGH KUNDALINI YOGA.

Importance of Family

A successful society stands on the strength of its families, and on our roles and relationships with each other. Shri Mataji often expressed her vision of such a balanced society, and throughout her life was an ideal example of the varied roles a woman can fulfill in the family, in the community, and on the world stage. 

She assumed responsibility within her family at an early age. Though not the eldest, she took care of her many siblings while her parents were busily engaged in the struggle for Indian independence — a movement she, too, would join as a young woman. When a wife and mother, Shri Mataji cared for her children and supported her husband as they travelled internationally for his work with the United Nations Maritime Organization. Though her concern for humanity was on a global scale, she waited until her own daughters were married and settled before beginning her public work.

On the dynamics of the relationship between a husband and wife, Shri Mataji once said, “You have to be in the balance. It’s not the husband or the wife, but both of them. They should respect each other, love each other, share everything with each other and exist in such a way that people should see that there are two wheels of a chariot, one on the left and one on the right.” And balance necessitates equality. “There’s no imbalance. They are equal, but not similar.”

Shri Mataji compared the qualities of a wife to those of the Mother Earth: she is nourishing, she is generous and loving, and she can create beauty. She is also the peacemaker, helping to keep the relationships in a family harmonious. She is the source of the family's strength, and her contribution expands beyond the family sphere. "The woman gives power … to your son, your husband, to all the society." 

Within the family a husband has the responsibility of looking after everyone and making sure that their needs are met. There should be mutual respect between husband and wife, as their roles are interdependent and equally valuable. 

Other important aspects of family life include the relationships between children and parents, brothers and sisters, younger family members and elders. When there is balance and peace in the family, it reverberates, creating a peaceful and balancing effect on society. 

According to Shri Mataji, “When you make a good family, then you create a beautiful, very beautiful, universe around.” 

With these values and vision, while fulfilling her role as a wife and mother (and grandmother and even great-grandmother), Shri Mataji’s attention remained global. Like all truly great leaders, she considered the whole world her family.  And all people - regardless of race, religion or nationality - equally worthy of her concern and care.

Bhagavad Geetha

Hare Krishna balakrishnan mechakkat
The Bhagavad-gita contains eighteen chapters containing a total of seven hundred verses. We have just gone through some important verses in the sixth chapter, so now we will move on to the seventh chapter. Srila Prabhupada titled this seventh chapter: "The Knowledge of the Absolute" and it begins with the following verse:

Now hear, O son of Prtha [Arjuna], how by practicing yoga in full consciousness of Me, with mind attached to Me, you can know Me in full, free from doubt.

In this chapter the nature of Krishna consciousness is fully described. Krishna is full in all opulences, and how He manifests such opulences is described herein. Also, four kinds of fortunate people who become attached to Krishna, and four kinds of unfortunate people who never take to Krishna are described in this chapter.

In the first six chapters of Bhagavad-gita, the living entity has been described as nonmaterial spirit soul which is capable of elevating himself to self-realization by different types of yogas. At the end of the Sixth Chapter, it has been clearly stated that the steady concentration of the mind upon Krishna, or in other words Krishna consciousness, is the highest form of all yoga. By concentrating one's mind upon Krishna, one is able to know the Absolute Truth completely, but not otherwise.

Impersonal brahmajyoti (the destination of the impersonalists) or localized Paramatma (the Lord in the heart, the subject of meditation for the yogis) realization is not perfect knowledge of the Absolute Truth because it is partial. Full and scientific knowledge is Krishna, and everything is revealed to the person in Krishna consciousness. In complete Krishna consciousness one knows that Krishna is ultimate knowledge beyond any doubts.

Different types of yoga are only steppingstones on the path of Krishna consciousness. One who takes directly to Krishna consciousness automatically knows about brahmajyoti and Paramatma  in full. By practice of Krishna consciousness yoga, one can know everything in full--namely the Absolute Truth, the living entities, the material nature, and their manifestations with paraphernalia.

One should therefore begin yoga practice as directed in the last verse of the Sixth Chapter. Concentration of the mind upon Krishna the Supreme is made possible by prescribed devotional service in nine different forms, of which hearing is the first and most important. The Lord therefore says to Arjuna, "Hear from Me." No one can be a greater authority than Krishna, and therefore by hearing from Him one receives the greatest opportunity for progress in Krishna consciousness. One has therefore to learn from Krishna directly or from a pure devotee of Krishna--and not from a nondevotee upstart, puffed up with academic education.

In the Srimad-Bhagavatam this process of understanding Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Absolute Truth, is described in the Second Chapter of the First Canto as follows:

"To hear about Krishna from Vedic literatures, or to hear from Him directly through the Bhagavad-gita, is itself righteous activity. And for one who hears about Krishna, Lord Krishna who is dwelling in everyone's heart, acts as a best-wishing friend and purifies the devotee who constantly engages in hearing of Him. In this way, a devotee naturally develops his dormant transcendental knowledge. As he hears more about Krishna from the Bhagavatam and from the devotees, he becomes fixed in the devotional service of the Lord. By development of devotional service one becomes freed from the modes of passion and ignorance, and thus material lust and avarice are diminished. When these impurities are wiped away, the candidate remains steady in his position of pure goodness, becomes enlivened by devotional service and understands the science of God perfectly. Thus bhakti-yoga severs the hard knot of material affection and enables one to come at once to the stage of understanding of the Supreme Absolute Truth Personality of Godhead." (Bhag.1.2.17-21)

Therefore only by hearing from Krishna or from His devotee in Krishna consciousness can one understand the science of Krishna.

So we see the only way one can understand Krishna consciousness is by hearing from a pure devotee of Krishna, and it is not very common to find a pure devotee of Krishna, we are very fortunate therefore that Srila Prabhupada has come to us and given us his books. Reading Srila Prabhupada's books is hearing from a pure devotee of Krishna. So by reading Srila Prabhupada's books we can become Krishna conscious.
